Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh picked as ADC gubernatorial running mate in Rivers State

NOLLYWOOD actress Tonto Dikeh has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming 2023 general election in Rivers State.

Dikeh, 37, is an actress, singer, songwriter and humanitarian who set up a charity known as the Tonto Dikeh Foundation in 2000. It was established with a clear vision of making life better for all displaced and under-privileged women, girls, youth and children across Africa, irrespective of their politically, religious and cultural differences.

It also aims to organise regular sensitisation programmes and symposia discussions that will bring sanity and civility to the black race by taking issues that affect women, gender issues, rape, empowerment, climate change and child right. It appears that Ms Dikeh's humanitarian work has helped in getting her picked as a tuning mate.

Announcing her selection on her Instagram page, Ms Dikeh thanked the ADC governorship candidate Tonte Ibraye, for picking her. She added that she will invest massively in social protection, create a social value system for young people and increase women’s inclusion in government, among others.

Ms Dikeh said: ”I thank Mr. Tonte Ibraye, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress Rivers State for nominating me as his running mate. I am glad to be a proud member of the #RiversRescueMission2023.

”We are looking forward to investing massively in social protection, creating a social value system for young people, increasing women’s inclusion in our governance system, supporting small businesses and strengthening our traditional institutions to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development to the good people of Rivers State. Please get your PVC and join the movement. You are the Future and The future is now.#Tontetonto2023.”
