Manchester United prevent youngster Tosin Kehinde from training with Super Eagles in London

MANCHESTER United have prevented teenage sensation Tosin Kehinde from training with the Super Eagles currently camped in London despite head coach Gernot Rohr inviting the youngster to fraternise with the team after he declared his allegiance to Nigeria.

Nigeria's Super Eagles are currently camped London ahead of tonight's friendly game against Serbia taking place at Barnet's The Hives Stadium in north London. Last week, Manchester United midfielder Kehinde, who has dual nationality, said he would love to play for Nigeria, prompting Mr Rohr to invite him to the Eagles camp.

However, his club have kicked against the idea and the midfielder has been ordered back to Manchester. According to Manchester United, they need him to resume training ahead of preparations for a youth game taking place later on tonight.

A Manchester United spokesman said he would have been allowed to stay with the Nigerian team if he was formally invited but that was not the case, hence he is back at the club training for tonight's match. There are possibilities Kehinde, 19, a regular for United’s under-23s this season, could be included in the Nigeria squad for the World Cup.

Kehinde, 19, was born in Lagos but raised in the UK and is eligible to play for either Nigeria or England. He has yet to make a senior appearance for United, although he has trained with Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad.
