Everton join the ranks of English Premier League clubs looking to sign Emmanuel Dennis

EVERTON have joined the ranks of English clubs looking to sign Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis ahead of the forthcoming 2022/23 season following the relegation of his club Watford.

Dennis, 24, joined Watford at the beginning of last season from Belgian side Club Brugge and was one of the revelations of the campaign, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances. With Watford now relegated and due to play in the second tier of English football next season, big clubs are lining up for Dennis' signature.

A relegation clause was signed when the player put pen to paper on his contract, so Dennis will not be moving with Watford to the Championship and is expected to command a transfer fee of anywhere between £15m and £20m. Since the end of the season, Premier League sides Brentford, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Leeds and Aston Villa have all made enquiries about Dennis and now Everton has joined in.

Apparently Everton are looking to sign him as a replacement for want-away Brazilian striker Richarlison, who is expected to leave Goodison Park during the summer transfer window. Richarlison has been linked with several clubs and a move to Tottenham Hotspur is the talk of the town but his exit will leave a gaping hole in Everton’s frontline, meaning reinforcing the department is key.

At 24, Dennis is yet to enter the prime of his career and can be moulded into a reliable goalscorer under the right manager. More so, he is also capable of playing anywhere along the frontline and can be a like-for-like replacement for Richarlison.

Dennis has four years left on his current contract at Vicarage Road but if he is sold for £20m, Watford would make a neat profit on a player they bought for just £3.5m a year ago. All these Premier League clubs see Dennis as a player with an incredible work rate, coupled with an excellent eye for goal.
