Several English Premier League sides eye Former Golden Eaglet Malcolm Ebiowei

FORMER Golden Eaglet Malcolm Ebiowei could be moving from English Championship side Derby County to the Premier League next season as a host of club have enquired about him as his contract comes to an end.

 

Ebiowei, 18, who was named in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2019 U17 World Cup, has entered the last one month of his contract with Derby County and it is all but confirmed he will not be extending his stay at the Pride Park Stadium. He scored once and registered two assists in 16 Championship appearances over the course of the 2021/22 season.

 

Now poised to leave Derby on a free, Ebiowei has attracted the attention of several big clubs in England and on the continent too. According to Italian transfer market journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and Patrick Vieira's Crystal Palace currently lead the race for the winger with French club Monaco, enquiring about him too

 

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also credited with an interest in Ebiowei following his encouraging performances last season. Ebiowei played for the youth teams of Chelsea, Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers academies before transferring to Derby County in September 2021.

 

A versatile player who can feature both as a plays as a striker and as a winger, Ebiowei is eligible to play for England, the Netherlands and Nigeria. Already, he has played for the Dutch U15 team and the England U16 team but is yet to determine where his loyalties will lie at senior level.
