Female student lynched at Shehu Shagari College of Education for insulting Prophet Mohammed

IRATE Muslins at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto have lynched a female pupil by beating her into a pulp and then setting her ablaze for allegedly insulting the Prophet Mohammed.

Yesterday morning the incident began after the student, simply identified as Deborah, was beaten to a pulp before being set ablaze. In a video trending on social media, some young men were seen hurling stones at the victim.

Apparently, when the victim fell to the ground unconscious, the attackers gathered tyres around her before she was set ablaze. It is not yet clear if the authorities intend to do anything about the incident.

According to eye witnesses, following immediate threats to her safety, Deborah was immediately evacuated to the security post of the school. However, the mob pursued her to the security post and overpowered the personnel on duty.

Authorities of the college have issued a statement announcing the immediate closure of the school over the fracas that broke out following the incident. So far, the Sokoto State Police Command has not commented on the matter or announced any arrests.
