BA's attempt to serve jollof rice on its London to Accra flight mocked by passengers

WEST African air travellers have taken to social media to mock BA's attempts to serve its passengers jollof rice aboard a London to Accra flight with those who were served the dish complaining that what they were served looked nothing like the delicacy.

As part of an attempt to meet the dietary demands of its growing African customer base, BA decided to introduce jollof rice on some of its selected flights. However, the maiden attempt to get this programme going suffered several major hiccups as apart from spelling the food wrong, the catering also left a lot to be desired.

One Twitter user shared a picture of the meal that was branded a travesty by passengers who added that the food served looked nothing like jollof rice, complaining that BA even spelt the name wrong. Joeva Rock shared a picture of the BA jolof rice dish that they were served on a flight to Ghana.

Joeva highlighted the first issue, as the dish is actually called jollof, a Senegalese rice meal made with long-grain rice, tomatoes, onions, spices, vegetables and meat. He added that BA spelt it jolof and within a short space of time, other Twitter users flocked to the post to offer their take on the meal, with one branding it a travesty.
