Lagos clergyman admits impregnating another woman because his wife denied him sex for four years

LAGOS evangelical clergyman Pastor Joshua Aranse has told an Alagbado Customary Court that he impregnated another woman and abandoned his matrimonial home for four years because he was sex starved.

Pastor Aranse, 46, and his wife are involved in a divorce suit, which the court was told was brought about by the fact that the clergyman impregnated another woman. In response to the accusation, Pastor Aranse said it was true but he had no choice because his wife refused to sleep with him for four years.

“I am a pastor and I counsel people and yes, it is true that I abandoned her because for over four years, she did not allow me have sexual intercourse with her. This is why I went out of my way to impregnated another woman," Pastor Aranse said.

His 42-year-old wife, Funmilayo, is seeking the dissolution of their 16-year-old marriage over alleged adultery. His wife, who resides at Adebayo Oloye St, Baba Ijebu Bus Stop, Meiran, a Lagos suburb had told the court that her husband left their matrimonial home in 2014.

She said: “In 2014, he finally abandoned our matrimonial home and my husband has not set his eyes on his three children since June 30, 2014. He refused to pay their school fees and they no longer go to school because I do not have money to send them to school.

“He sold our car and gave the money to the woman he impregnated. He has refused to take care of the children and I, so please separate us because I no longer love him.”

In his response, Pastor Aranse said that when he sold the car, he gave Funmilayo a sum of N40,000 but she used the money to buy second hand shoes to sell. He claimed he did not commit adultery except the woman he impregnated and does not love Funmilayo anymore.

In his ruling, the court’s president ordered the respondent to pay N15,000 for the upkeep of the three children until the case was disposed off. He directed that the clergyman bring the feeding allowance to the court and adjourned the continuation of trial until March 13.
