Fani-Kayode accuses Buhari is being selective in fight against corruption letting off those who join the APC

FORMER aviation minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war stressing that it’s selective as politicians who decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have charges against them dropped.

In 2015, President Buhari assumed office amid a promise to rid Nigeria of corruption and his government has since been pursuing members of the previous administration believed to have acquired wealth illegally. Chief Fani-Kayode was a member of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government which ruled Nigeria between 1999 and 2015, whose members have been found guilty of massive corruption.

According to Chief Fani-Kayode, however, once a politician standing trial for corruption decamps from the PDP to the APC, his trial is suspended. He cited instances of former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and former Bauchi State governor Isa Yuguda as examples of politicians given amnesties for decamping.

Chief Fani-Kayode said: “Since Governor Isa Yuguda joined APC his trial with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) suddenly developed hearing problems. Since Senator Musiliu Obanikoro joined the APC, his trial with the EFCC suddenly developed malaria.

“Since Governor Joshua Dariye joined the APC his trial with EFCC stopped like a train with a knocked engine, since Governor Orji Uzor Kalu joined APC his trial with EFCC suddenly got a new break pad. Since Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu joined APC his trial with the EFCC developed a cataract.”

Pointing out that President Buhari can no longer claim the mantra of Mr Integrity, Chief Fani-Kayode said God will punish some people soon and send them to hell fire. Next year, Nigeria's faces a general election with the APC and PDP poised to be locked in a two-horse race.
