Nigerians moan a lot about bad leadership but they are their own worst enemies as they would never vote for simple leaders like Angela Merkel

Ayo Akinfe

[1] She led Germany for 16 years without dropping one euro for anyone
[2] For 16 years there was not even a hint of corruption around Chancellor Merkel
[3] Do you know that despite being in office for 16 years, not one statue has been erected in her honour anywhere across Germany
[4] Despite leading Europe’s largest economy for 16 years, Ms Merkel still lives in her Berlin apartment
[5] Throughout her 16 years in office, Ms Merkel has not employed one of her loved ones or family members into any government position
[6] In 16 years this chancellor did not demand an outstanding salary
[7] Do you know that her husband Joachim Sauer is also extremely frugal? He often flies on budget airlines instead of accompanying Merkel in a government jet
[8] throughout her 16 years as chancellor, Ms Merkel did her weekend shopping at the local supermarket.
[9] Instead of expensive vacations, Ms Merkel prefers to stay in her small country house in Uckermarck, not far from the capital, or at a Baltic Sea beach resort
[10] On one occasion, a journalist asked the chancellor why she wore the same dress at different ceremonies. Amazed, Chancellor Merkel looked at her and replied: “Because I am not a model but a Chancellor.”

Joseph de Maistre once said: “Every country has the government it deserves.”

I agree with him 100%. When Nigerians are prepared to elect leaders like Angela Merkel they will see good governance. Until then, they should stop shedding their crocodile tears and halt the hypocrisy.

What moral right have you to complain about corruption when you accepted bribes from a candidate before voting for him or her? That candidate has every right to recoup their bribe which you willingly accepted!
