Imo State Police Command arrests supplier of Indian hemp to Ipob and ESN fighters

MEN of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 51 year-old-man identified as Friday Ndimma believed to be the regular supplier of Indian hemp to Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) militants.

Mr Ndimma, who hails from the Orsu Ihitte-Ukwa community in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, is suspected of supplying the militants with marijuana before the go on operations. According to Abutu Yaro, the Imo State police commissioner, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a major supplier of marijuana to all Ipob and ESN camps across Orsu Local Government Area and its environs.

He added that the suspect who has confessed to the crime was arrested in his home in the Orsu Ihitte-Ukwa community following intelligence information. Mr Yaro explained that Mr Ndimma will be charged to court accordingly soon.

Praising the members of the public, Mr Yaro thanked the good people of Imo State for providing adequate information to the police to combat crime and another form of criminality. He then assured the people of the command’s readiness and commitment in ensuring that crime is brought to its barest minimum.

Items recovered from Mr Ndimma during the raid on his home include over 50kg of Indian hemp and the sum of N430,000 thought to be the proceeds of his most recent sales. Over recent months, ESN fighters have been engaged in challenging armed Fulani herdsmen terrorising the southeast geo-political zone and of late have been involved in armed confrontations with security operatives.
