This is the order in which I will rate Nigeria's top 10 security challenges at the moment

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Restoring normality to the northeast. Iswap have even declared one of their commanders as the Borno State governor

[2] Ending the menace of Fulani cattle herdsmen killing innocent people across the country

[3] Confronting these so-called armed bandits in the northwest who now attack schools and abduct pupils on a daily basis

[4] Nigeria's large army of kidnappers who have developed a lucrative ransom industry

[5] Mopping up the 6m illegal firearms in the country, most of them AK47 assault rifles

[6] Doing something to man our porous borders as all sorts of arms and ammunition can enter the country at will

[7] Nnamdi Kanu and the Eastern Security Network

[8] Sunday Igboho and the Yoruba Nation

[9] Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and the Shiite Movement

[10] Niger Delta militants

From what I can see, our federal government has made the least serious challenges its major priorities. I assume this is just because they are soft targets and are unlikely to lead to any loss of life.

We need to make either the defence minister of the internal affairs minister the coordinating minister for security. He should be given the task of addressing all these challenges with a view to eliminating them between now and 2023.
