Rivers State Governor Wike pays solidarity visit to Benue where he is taken to victims' graves

RIVERS State governor  Nyesom Wike has paid a solidarity visit to Benue State following the recent murder of over 70 people there and was received by his counterpart Governor Samuel Ortom who took him to the graves of some of the victims.

Last month, in one of the bloodiest attacks ever witnessed in the ongoing Fulani herdsmen saga, over 80 villagers were butchered in Benue State. This attack created an international outrage and President Muhammadu Buhari has come under fierce criticism for failing to deal with the matter.

Governor Ortom has been very critical of the inspector-general of police for failing to protect lives and property in Benue State. Earlier today, Governor Wike visited Benue State and he and his entourage were taken to grave side of the victims in Makurdi by Governor Ortom where the dead were buried.

Among those who accompanied Governor Wike included Sir Celestine Omehia, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, Sir Abiye Sekibo, Chief Ominari CJ Okocha, Chief Ferdinard Anabraba, Senator Olaka Nwogu and Hon Tammy Danagogo. Across Benue State, thousands of people are still living in makeshift refugee camps because they are too scared to return to their villages.
