Nigeria and Serbia March 27 friendly to take place at Barnet's The Hive Stadium in north London

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles' impending friendly game against Serbia coming up during the next Fifa window on March 27 will now be taking place at Barnet FC's The Hive Stadium in north London.

As part of the ongoing preparations to get the team ready for the 2018 World Cup, the Nigerian Football federation has organised a series of friendly games for the Eagles. On march 23, the Eagles will play Poland in Warsaw followed by the Serbia game four days later and then the team will play the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 28 in Nigeria before heading off to Russia.

En-route, the Eagles will also play England at Wembley on June 2 and there are ongoing discussions about whether to play Chile in a final game on June 9. Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr had said he needs about five games to get his wards in shape for the World Cup as he wants to try out some new players and forge team chemistry.

Last year, Nigeria played a 1-1 draw with Senegal at the 6,500 capacity Hives Stadium, which serves as the home ground of English League Two side Barnet FC. Tickets for the Serbia game are selling for £18, with students and juniors allowed to purchase theirs at a discounted price of £10.

Kicking off at 8pm GMT, the Serbia game will be the last opportunity for Mr Rohr to try out several players before the end of the season. Among the new faces he is expected to invite include Torino midfielder Joel Obi who missed all the World Cup qualifier due to injury, while the likes of Isaac Success, Brown Ideye and Oghene Etebo may get recalls.
