Nnamdi Kanu warns that all hell will be let loose of security forces arrest Sunday Igboho

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) leader Nnamdi Kanu has warned Nigerian officials not to dare touch Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho saying if they do so all hell will be let loose.

Over recent weeks, Mr Adeyemo has shot to international fame after he issued a seven quit notice to the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa North Local Government area of Oyo State, asking them to leave the area for killing diasporan farmer Dr Fatai Aborode. At the end of the seven day period, he forcefully evicted the herdsmen, leading to numerous communities across the southwest have solicited his help to remove armed Fulanis within their midst.

Yesterday, Mr Adeyemo was on his way to Lagos for a security meeting and it was reported that Department of State Security (DSS) operatives and policemen numbering about 40 made an attempt to arrest him along the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway. Although, he subsequently evaded arrest and attended the meeting, the attempt has attracted widespread criticism.

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, who also attended the Lagos security meeting, said the move proved that the security forces were not neutral when it came to the Fulani herdsmen matter. Mr Kanu has also condemned the attempted arrest, warning that Sunday Igboho should not be touched.

Mr Kanu said: “I condemn in totality the pathetic attempt to arrest Sunday Igboho earlier today. This is yet another deliberate act of provocation by the Fulani Caliphate.

"No Fulani mass murderer, Miyetti Allah or bandit is under arrest. Nigeria is on the brink and Igboho should not be touched.”

Meanwhile, DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya, distanced the agency from the allegation. Mr Afunanya stressed that the news about the attempted arrest was misinforming and should be disregarded.
