Man charged with murder in Niger State after flogging his 65-year old neighbour to death with engine belt

NIGER State resident Garba Tukura has been charged to court for murder after he flogged his 65-tyear old neighbour Musa Wassa to death following a minor altercation between the two of them.

 

Mr Tukura, 49, who hails from Zazzaga Village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, was said to have allegedly killed Mr Wassa during a heated argument. Police spokesman Peter Sunday, who confirmed the incident, said that in the heat of an argument, Mr Tukura flogged Mr Wassa with an engine belt.

 

He added: “Wassa slumped and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was discovered to be comatose and later died. Following a report of the incident, operatives attached to the Sarkin Pawa division of the command arrested Tukura.”

 

Mr Sunday said the suspect confessed to the crime and had been charged to court. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to death.
