Wilfred Ndidi to return to action tonight after a month-and-a-half off with knee injury

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is poised to return from injury today and feature in Leicester City's Europa League fixture against Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk at the Zaporizhzhya City Stadium.

In September, Ndidi, 23, suffered a knee injury, which has kept him out of action for both club and country. Regarded as the best ball winner in the English Premier League, Ndidi has not played for the Foxes since suffering a tear in his abductor muscle during a clash against Burnley on September 20, for which he underwent surgery.

After missing a month-and-a-half of action, however, the anchorman returns to action tonight after being included in the squad that flew to Ukraine. Leicester City head coach Brendan Rogers is expected to at least name Ndidi on the bench after he was spotted boarding the flight to Ukraine with the rest of the team yesterday.

Mr Rodgers said : "Ndidi will play for us, Soyuncu too. So it's going to be really good. Ricardo has played an Under-23s game.

"They're very important for us and it's fantastic to have them back. Castagne is still out."

Ndidi has appeared in 16 European matches during the course of his career, with six of them being in the Europa League proper. Prior to his injury, Ndidi was one of the first names on the Leicester City team sheet with the midfield built around the ever-present player.
