Birthday boy Victor Moses set to celebrate with his 200th Premier League appearance tonight

SUPER Eagles winger Victor Moses looks set to join the elite band of Nigerian footballers who have played 200 games in the English Premiership this weekend when he features for Chelsea away game to Huddersfield tonight.

 

Given a new role in the Chelsea team under manager Antonio Conte, Moses, who celebrates his birthday today, has excelled this season and has been described as one of the best wingbacks in world football. He is now one of the first names on the Chelsea team sheet and whenever he does not play, the team feels his absence badly.

 

Last weekend, Moses appeared in Chelsea's 0-1 loss to West Ham, coming on as a second half substitute, after being rested due to their team's hectic schedule. It is expected that he will feature tonight for the game taking place at The John Smith’s Stadium tonight.

 

If he takes to the pitch, Moses will join the likes of Shola Ameobi (298 games), Nwankwo Kanu (273 games), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252 games), Mikel Obi (249), Joseph Yobo (228) and Victor Anichebe (204) who have all played over 200 matches in the Premiership. So far, Moses has clocked up 11,857 minutes, scored 17 goals and notched 16 assists in the English Premiership.

 

Celebrating his 27th birthday today, Moses has 66 appearances to his name for Chelsea, 74 for Wigan Athletic, 21 West Ham and featured 19 times each while on loan at Liverpool and Stoke City. Moses made his Premier League debut against Sunderland on February 6, 2010. and since then has gone on to become one of the best players in the league.

 

Moses was recently shortlisted for the BBC African player of the Year alongside Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. yesterday, Salah, the Liverpool and Egyptian winger, who has scored 13 goals this season, was announced as the winner of the award.
