Egypt enter agreement with China to manufacture their Covid-19 vaccine when it is ready

EGYPT and China have announced plans to sign a cooperation agreement on the production of a Covid-19 vaccine that would guarantee that the Arab giant will become the African manufacturing hub of any cure developed by the Chinese.

 

Across the industrialised world, there is a frantic race on to produce a coronavirus vaccine, with countries like the US, China, Japan, Germany, the UK, France and Russia and planning to unveil a cure next year at the latest. Coming up with a marketing plan for its drug when it is available, China has decided to enter into partnership with the Egyptians that will involve a manufacturing plant built in Egypt to supply the African market.

 

Hala Zayed, Egypt's health minister announced the plans during a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang. Khaled Mugahed, a spokesman for Egypt's health ministry, added that the country would become the African hub to manufacture the Chinese vaccine once it is developed by Beijing.

 

Mr Mugahed said: “The Egyptian and Chinese sides are expected to sign in September a cooperation agreement on the production of anti-coronavirus vaccines.”  In early July, Egypt's minister of higher education and scientific research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, stated that local scientists conducted preclinical studies of at least four Covid-19 vaccine.
