About 350 Nigerians to be evacuated from the UK to Abuja by Air Peace on August 15

NIGERIAN high commission officials in the UK have revealed details of the next evacuation flight of its citizens from the UK due to take place on August 15 involving a chartered flight from Gatwick Airport to Abuja.

Like most other nations, the UK and Nigeria prohibited all international travel during the height of the coronavirus pandemic but over recent weeks have eased many of these restrictions. In the UK, international airports like Heathrow and Gatwick have been reopened but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is warning against travel to certain countries.

According to the high commission the seventh evacuation flight from Gatwick Airport, London to Abuja has been scheduled for August 15. Under the evacuation plan, Air Peace will airlift the stranded citizens from the UK to Nigeria next week.

Airfares for the prospective evacuees include $1,800 or N855,000 per passenger for a business class, with only 29 available seats. In economy class, there are 303 seats available, at a cost of  $850 or N403,750 per passenger for economy class.

Child fares will be the same as adult fares, while infants, who are below two years old, will pay 10% of the adult fare. A spokesman for the mission said: “The high commission wishes to inform all prospective evacuees that arrangements have been concluded with Air Peace Airlines for the next batch of evacuation flight for stranded Nigerian nationals in the United Kingdom.

"The flight is scheduled to depart Gatwick Airport, London on 15th August 2020 at 11.00 am to Abuja only. In the light of the foregoing, please find here under the ticket fares - Business Class (29 seats) $1,800/N855,000 per passenger, Economy Class (303 seats) $850/N403,750 per passenger, while child fare is same as adult fare and Infant (under two years) 10% of adult fare."
