Enyeama moves in coaching as French third tier side Iris Club de Croix name him goalkeeper trainer

FORMER Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama has been appointed by French side Iris Club de Croix as their goalkeeper trainer with a special mandate to help groom young goal tenders for the future.

Enyeama, 37, has not played football action since quitting Lille in 2018 and was reportedly eyeing a move to the Premier Soccer League in South Africa. However, he has decided to quit playing and move into coaching, taking up his first ever job with the Championet National Three clubside.

According to the club, Enyeama will handle its goalkeeping department, especially the reserves and U-16 sides. A club spokesman said: “Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria international, winner of the African Cup of Nations 2013, former goalkeeper of Lille from 2011 to 2018, will take charge of goalkeepers in training from reserve to U-16."

Highly revered for his meritorious service, Enyeama is Nigeria’s most-capped player with 101 appearances in goal for the Eagles, featuring in three World Cups. He made his competitive debut in the 2002 World Cup when he manned goal in a 0-0 draw with England and also manned goal for Nigeria at South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.
