QPR's Ebere Eze confirms that he remains torn between opting for Nigeria and England

QUEENS Park Rangers (QPR) playmaker Ebere Eze has revealed that he remains torn between Nigeria and England as he reaches the point whereby he needs to make a decision about his international career.

Linked with a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur Ebere has been in scintillating form for English Championship side QPR this season. Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has been after him for a while now but so too have England, who have capped him at the U20 level, meaning that even if Eze wants to play for Nigeria now, he will have to go through a Fifa switch.

Such switches can take up to a year to complete but Nigerian Football Federation chairman Amaju Pinnick is keen to start the process immediately. Being touted as a midfielder in the mould of the legendary Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Eze is seen as Nigeria's ideal playmaker, who can create goals for her forwards like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu.

Yesterday, Ebere, rated at £9m, confided that he is facing a dilemma regarding which national team to opt for. However, he insists he does not want to rush into a decision as he weighs up more playing time with Nigeria or potential European success with England.

Ebere said: "I’m very happy to be part of England’s youth setup right now but I enjoyed training with Nigeria."

Back in 2017, Ebere trained with the Super Eagles while they were in London, an experience he says he enjoyed. He is one of the most highly-rated talents in the English Championship, and has scored 12 goals in 37 league appearances this season for QPR.
