Oluwo of Iwo curses all those who blame him for his break-up with Queen Chanel

CONTROVERSIAL monarch the Oluwo of Iwo has placed a curse on anyone that blames him for recently separating from his Canadian-Jamaican queen Chanel Chin who he broke up with on December 15 last year.

Educated in Canada, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the 14th Oluwo of Iwoland, tied the knot with Queen Chanel after his ascension to the throne on November 10, 2015. They had been dating in Canada before he was recalled to become monarch and his first act upon becoming king was to get married but last month, what was seen as a modern and cosmopolitan marriage, hit the rocks.

Queen Chin is the daughter of Jamaican reggae star, Ludlow Chanel also known as Bobo Zaro and the couple have produced one son. It is believed that their marriage turned sour in 2018 when Queen Chanel found out that the Oluwo was having an affair with an Iwo woman, as she does not believe in polygamy and was averse to the idea of sharing her husband with another woman.

In 2018, she was reported to have packed out of the palace and last month, things came to a head with the palace announcing that Chanel had ceased to be queen. However, Oba Akanbi, who has not disclosed the reason for the separation, has refused to accept that he is to blame for the break-up.

Oba Akanbi had announced the break-up on December 15 over what was described as irreconcilable personal differences. He has since been criticised because Queen Chanel was highly popular as her leaving Canada to come and live in Iwo was seen as a great PR coup and her easy going nature and humility enamoured her to many ordinary folks.

Responding, Oba Akanbi said: “All those who are judging Oluwo of Iwoland Oba Adewale Akanbi regarding his marital issues, now I have this to say to you. If I ever did evil or showed anything other than love in this my immediate past union, let God Almighty judge me and put the curse on my head and remove the crown from me.

“To all who choose to judge without knowing the truth, I forgive you and may God forgive you too but from this moment on, if you judge me without knowing the truth, may the evil that was perpetrated against me be done to you and may your children experience what I went through in this past relationship of mine. I came out alive and victorious by the grace and power of God Almighty because I’m a special breed by God Almighty."
