Nnamdi Kanu says he warned Orji Uzor Kalu that joining the APC would not save him

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that her warned senate chip whip and former Abia State governor Orji Uzor Kalu that joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would not save him from imprisonment.

Yesterday, Senator Kalu was sentenced to 12 year in jail after being convicted of embezzling N7.5bn ($12m) while he was governor. Justice Mohammed Idris of the federal high court Abuja convicted Senator Kalu on 39 counts of fraud and money laundering preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Reacting to the sentencing, Mazi Kanu said he warned Senator Kalu sometime ago to be careful of his coalition with the Buhari government and join the Ipob family but he declined. Before the last election, Senator Kalu left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the APC but despite being elected as one of its senators and the party's chief whip in the National Assembly, he was still tried and found guilty.

Mazi Kanu said: “Let what befell Orji Uzor Kalu serve as a lesson to others and as I warned them many years ago, serve the zoo come back in shame. I warned him when he came to see me in Kuje Prison that those illiterate begging Alimajiris from the desert don’t love him but he wouldn’t listen.

“I warned him that Fulani caliphate will not rest until they conquer, subdue and enslave the entire east and west because of their sense of inferiority complex but he wouldn’t listen. I warned him of the pathological hatred these Alimajiris have towards Biafrans because our industry and ingenuity expose their mediocrity but he wasn’t having it, as he was a committed one Nigeria apologist.

“I reminded him of what happened to Ken Saro-Wiwa who like him believed so much in one Nigeria and ended up being killed by the same Alimajiri he served so diligently against Biafra but he wouldn’t listen. Today they are picking them off one after the other because they know Ipob won’t fight for any Efulefu.

"If he had known what was to become of him, he would have done exactly what I told him during our meeting, join the nearest Ipob family and support the Biafra restoration project. Will Dave Umahi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Willie Obiano, Rochas Okorocha learn from this?”
