Arsenal urged to buy Ndidi during the January transfer window to save their flagging season

LEADING British football analyst Art De Roche has advised Arsenal manager Unai Emery to save his club's flagging season by purchasing Leicester City and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are currently lying sixth in the English Premier League table, with a meagre 17 points, which is half that of leaders Liverpool. Being eight points behind fourth placed Manchester City, Arsenal's hopes of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the lucrative Uefa Champions League are looking slim and the fans have subsequently turned on coach Emery.

Already, key players like captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have indicated that they may leave the Emirates of the Gunners fail to qualify for the Champions league next season. With Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea and Manchester City all having great seasons so far, Arsenal may even struggle to qualify for the less glamorous Europa League, as it has to contend with teams like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs for those two slots.

Ndidi, who has won the most tackles in the English Premier league for the last two seasons, has been praised for Leicester's resurgence during the current campaign. His presence in front of the back four has resulted in the Foxes only letting in eight goals in 12 league matches compared to the 17 Arsenal have conceded.

Art De Roche, said that Ndidi, 22, is the perfect man to help Unai Emery's side stem the goals and salvage their flagging campaign. With Lucas Torreira linked with a move to Italian Serie A side Napoli, his departure could free up another spot in midfield and make the acquisition of Ndidi even more tenable.

Ndidi has played non-stop at the King Power stadium since joining from Racing Genk in 2017, with 11 league games under his belt and two goals to show for this season. Currently away with Nigeria during the international break, he was immense on Saturday when the Super Eagles beat Lesotho 4-2 in an African nations Cup qualifier away in Maseru.
