Buhari takes time off his London vacation to meet with Archbishop of Canterbury

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has taken time off his two week holiday in the UK to visit the Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Reverend Justin Welby at his official London residence the Lambeth Palace.

This month, President Buhari embarked on his leave from the 2nd to the 17th of November, visiting London on his way back from an investment summit in Saudi Arabia. In what is now becoming an annual routine, President Buhari takes his annual leave in the UK, where he comes for medical check-ups and for treatment on an undisclosed ailment.

In August 2017, President Buhari spent 105 days in the UK recovering, during which period he stayed at Abuja House in London and in April this year, he spent 10 days in London after a four-day holiday in 2018. Whenever he is in London, President Buhari always holds an audience with the Archbishop, who he has developed a close friendship with.

Last year, in October 2018, the Archbishop visited Nigeria as a keynote speaker at a conference on religious harmony before the 2019 general elections. Earlier on in his career, the Archbishop and President Buhari had forged a friendship long before they both became prominent global leaders.
