Spurs teenage defender Jubril Okedina pledges his international future to Nigeria

TOTTENHAM Hotspurs defender Jubril Okedina has pledged his international future to the Super Eagles telling the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) that he will honour an invitation whenever invited to camp.

Okedina, 19, is strong and technical centre-half, who has recently been promoted from the Spurs U18 team into its U23 squad and is now eyeing a starting place in the senior team. Born and raised in Woolwich, in southeast London, Okedina attended Beths Grammar School in Bexley, where he won the Kent Cup and Bexley Schools Cup twice.

He is eligible to feature for England but has told the NFF second vice president, Seyi Akinwunmi that he will be happy to play for Nigeria. Okedina would have been considered for Nigeria’s U23 national team currently in Egypt for the continental youth championship but coach Imama Amapakabo had already picked his squad.

Okedina, who can also slot in at right-back, inked a one-year professional contract with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and the north London club have the option to extend his deal for an additional season. Highly rated by the club, he is thought to have a bright future at White Harte Lane.
