NYSC introduces verification exercise for foreign graduates in drive to combat fraud

DIASPORA graduates who want to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will have to go through a new verification programme that involve them submitting their original certificates as part of a drive to combat fraud.

Over recent years, the NYSC has been subject to abuse with several unqualified applicants getting into the scheme. In a bid to combat this, prospective corps members (PCM) from abroad will have to go through a process that involves the verification of their certificates ahead of the main orientation camp.

According to NYSC officials, this year's verification exercise will take place between October  21 and 26th. Only foreign-trained PCMs who have registered successfully on the NYSC portal will join in the exercise.

One NYSC official said: “The management of NYSC wishes to notify all foreign-trained Nigerian graduates that the scheme has devised a new strategy of verifying certificates and other documents submitted for mobilisation by Nigerian foreign-trained graduates, with effect from 2019 Batch B Stream II. Foreign-trained PCM are hereby advised to physically present along with original certificates.

"Note that you must have successfully registered on the NYSC portal. The Verification Exercise will start from 21st to 26th October 2019.”
