Ukrainians impressed with the Super Eagles saying the first half was like watching Brazil

UKRAINIAN football analysts have praised the performance of Nigeria's Super Eagles against their national team on Tuesday saying that it was like watching Brazil in the first half of the match.

In the match that took place at the Dnipro Stadium in southern Ukraine, Nigeria raced into a two goal first half lead before being pegged back to 2-2 by the home side in the second half. In the first 45 minutes, however, the pace of the Nigerian counter-attacks was too much for the Ukrainians to cope with as they were repeatedly left exposed at the back.

Leading Ukrainian journalist Stanislav Roman, the first half performance of the Super Eagles was similar to watching Brazil in full flow. He added that the way the Super Eagles were confident on the ball and also the running off it left the Ukrainian backline confused.

Coach Andriy Shevchenko admitted after the game that his wards could not keep up with the pace of the Nigerians. He said the trio of Samuel Chukwueze, Samuel Kalu and Victor Osimhen can wreck any team in the world if they play with such neck breaking speed as seen in the first half of the game.

Mr Roman added: "It was like watching Brazil play to be honest. That was the best 45 minute any team can ever wish for as they were not just good on the ball but off it they kept making runs that left the defence of Ukraine confused.

"The front three can trouble any team in this world with the pace with which they played the first 45 minutes. They probably got tired in the second half but if not for the chances they failed to convert, they would have rounded up the game before the first goal scored by Ukraine as the Ukrainian national team were taught a very good lesson by the Nigerians."
