Ipob provides details of Nnamdi Kanu's meeting with EU Parliament on Brussels

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) officials have revealed details of the recent meeting between their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the European Union (EU) Parliament detailing that he presented a case for an independent state.

On Tuesday this week, Mazi Kanu visited the EU parliament in Brussels at the invitation of one or two members and used to opportunity to make the case for Biafran independence. He is seeking EU backing for a sovereign state as Ipob looks to secede from Nigeria and recreate the independent nation of Biafra that existed briefly between July 1967 and January 1970 during the Nigerian Civil War.

Ipob spokesman Emma Powerful, said: “Mazi Kanu assured every Biafran after the meeting that his next diplomatic mission would be to the United Nations. Ipob’s invitation to the parliament signified that the group was not only respected but regarded as a force for good in Africa.

"Events in Brussels has confirmed that the Biafra restoration project was divinely ordained, hence all efforts by the Nigerian government to intimidate and bully the organisers failed spectacularly. The seed of Biafra self-determination had been planted in the heart of the EU and the more the Nigerian state fight Ipob, the stronger and more resolute we become."

Although Mr Powerful did not give details of what was discussed, he added that the diplomatic move was designed to take Biafran freedom to another level, way beyond the imagination of the Nigerian government. He added that following the historic meeting, Mazi Kanu promised Biafrans that he would be in Washington DC and the United Nations next  before the end of this year.
