Buhari teases London Resume or Resign protesters saying they should join him and return home too

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has mocked the protesters who recently held a vigil in London demanding that he return to Nigeria teasing that now that he has done so they should follow suit and come home too.

Earlier this month, a group of Nigerians held a Resume or Resign protest outside Abuja House in London where President Buhari stayed for 105 days recovering from an undisclosed illness. A day after their protest, President Buhari returned to Nigeria and has since assumed his duties as president.

Addressing governors from Nigeria's two main political parties in Abuja yesterday, President Buhari taunted the protesters, asking them to take a leaf out of his book. He said now that he has returned to Nigeria, he hoped that those behind the protest would do likewise.

President Buhari also said that he was happy about national prayers held for his quick recovery, noting that they cut across all religions and ethnic groups. During the meeting, President Buhari said he was also very pleased with the way vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo ran the country in his absence.

“The efforts by the vice president were commendable as he used his intellect to run the place and I was seeing him 24 hours on the Nigerian Television Authority. I congratulated him and I allowed him to come and see me to thank him personally for what he has done," President Buhari added.
