Peter Obi dismisses rumours he had a heart attack saying he only visited hospital because he was feeling feverish

FORMER Anambra State governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate Peter Obi has denied that he is suffering from a heart attack pointing out that he is only felt feverish yesterday and decided to visit the hospital for treatment.

Yesterday, the media was awash with stories that Mr Obi had suffered from a heart attack, had been rushed to hospital and may be flown abroad for further treatment. However, debunking the news as melodramatic, Mr Obi's spokesman Valentine Obienyem, described those behind the reports as liars.

Mr Obienyem said: “Yesterday, I posted a report of how the former governor of Anambra State felt a bit feverish and had to visit a hospital at Onitsha. I equally reported that he returned and went straight to his office to continue his work and we spent the whole day planning on the focus of his next apostolate, which is to support 50 selected hospitals.

“Today, the reckless fringe twisted the report that Obi  suffered  a heart attack. I should believe that anybody capable of coming out with such a wicked and twisted lie is as well as wishing him dead but the sooner they realise that God is the creator and custodian of all lives, the better for them.

“May I  therefore use this medium to inform the public that Obi did not suffer any heart attack or  any debilitating illness. He  felt a bit feverish, which is one of the pangs of humanity, visited a hospital in Anambra State and that is all. Mr Peter Obi is hale and hearty.”

Yesterday, Mr Obi had checked into the  Queen of the Rosary Hospital, Waterside, Onitsha, where it appeared that he was treated and has since been discharged. Mr Obi prided himself on equipping hospitals across Anambra State when he was governor, saying that this meant he did not have to fly abroad for treatment whenever he was ill.
