Rochas warns Ndigbo not to expect much during Buhari's second term as they voted against APC

GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has warned that Ndigbo would get very little from the federal government during President Muhammadu Buhari's second term because the southeast geo-political zone did not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In February when Nigeria went to the polls, President Buhari fared badly across the southeast and in the National Assembly elections, the zone only returned one APC senator from its five states. In the subsequent gubernatorial elections, the APC did not win any of the contests and once Governor Okorocha leaves office on May 29, the party will not have any governor across the southeast.

Speaking in Owerri yesterday, Governor Okorocha also said the ruling APC was full of controversies. He added that he was a lone voice in the wilderness of southeast, telling them to vote for APC but they refused to listen, adding that the electorate opted to vote for Alhaji

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of their son, Peter Obi, was his running mate and hoping that the party would win.

Governor Okorocha said: “So long as the southeast region did not vote for Buhari, they should expect nothing from his second tenure. In 2023, the presidency will not come to south-east zone because the people of the zone worked against Buhari, while some principal offices will cease to come to the zone because of their kind of politics of hatred and pull-him down syndrome.”

He thanked the people of the state for their support for him over the past eight years of his administration but stated that if care is not taken, the APC would cease to exist after 2019 going by the way the party operates. Governor Okorocha alleged that the party was being misled by its national chairman Adams Oshiomhole who he claimed he is piloting the affairs of the party with impunity, envy, greed and arrogance.

He added that the  impunity of the Oshiomhole administration was becoming an aberration to the expectations of Nigerians before its emergence as a ruling party. Stating that the activities of Mr Oshiomhole and his conduct led to what the party is suffering today, Governor Okorocha told the party officials and President Buhari to try and stop the ugly trend of the national chairman.
