Leicester City consider offloading Ahmed Musa to WBA following the purchase of Iheanacho

LEICESTER City are contemplating selling Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa to Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion (WBA) having successfully secured the services of compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City over the last week.

After lengthy negotiations, Manchester City and Leicester agreed on a £25m transfer fee, allowing Iheanacho, 20, to move to the King Power Stadium. Iheanacho has scored 21 goals in 64 appearances for City but was limited to just five Premier League starts last season after coach Pep Guardiola bought Gabriel Jesus to strengthen his attack.

His signing now means that Musa may be surplus to requirements at Leicester, so the club is now looking to offload him. With the signing of Iheanacho, the Foxes have six strikers currently on their books as he joins Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani, Shinji Okazaki, Leonardo Ulloa as well as Musa as attacking options.

Although Musa joined Leicester City for £17m from CSKA Moscow last summer, it is very probable that he will be the striker to make way after an underwhelming first season in England. Apparently, the Baggies are believed to be interested in Musa, after missing out on Iheanacho themselves.

It is reported that WBA want to sign him initially on loan but want to include the option to buy at the end of the season. It is looking increasingly likely that Musa will make way as he has been subject to interest from numerous European clubs throughout pre-season and has only played three times since new manager Shakespeare took charge at Leicester, all as a substitute.

One European club rumoured to be interested in Musa is Turkish side Fenerbahce but it is believed that he is desperate to continue his career in the Premier League. It is believed that the winger is looking to follow the example of past Super Eagles greats and enjoy a long and successful Premiership career.

Musa's agent Tony Harris, said: "The interest from Turkey is very strong but he wants to remain in England. He could get his wish because some clubs have contacted us about him.

"West Brom and Brighton are among the clubs to have sounded him out over a potential move. A decision will be made over his next destination but leaving England is out of it."
