Former AFN president Solomon Ogba made chief scutineer of London IAAF championships

FORMER president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Evangelist Solomon Ogba has been appointed as the chief scrutineer for the 51st International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) championship that just kicked off in London.

 

Evangelist Ogba, who stood down as the AFN president last year after two terms, will act as chief scrutineer for the games along with Rosamunde Carey of the Bahamas. Other scruitineers who will work alongside them include Sarifa Fagilde from Mozambique, Kwan Kee from Hong Kong, Yoonis Yaqoob and Issa Al Siyabi from East Timor, Nijole Medvedeva from Lithuania and Jack Cohen from Israel.

 

Anne-Marie Garrigan, the manager of Institutional Forums, in the Governance, Member & International Relations Department of the IAAF wrote to them stating: “It is a pleasure to inform you that during its meeting on 31st July 2017, the IAAF Council has nominated you as a scruitneer during the upcoming 51st IAAF Congress on 3rd August 2017.”

 

Other scrutineers at the games will include Gordon Orlikow from Canada, Linda Hammersley from New Zealand, Brian Roe from Australia, Mirian Cristina Ermacora from Argentina and Manuel Bravo from Ecuador. Ms Garrigan advised that there will be a day before the championships where they will be fully made aware of their roles and responsibilities during the congress.
