Abacha's son Mohammed promises to deliver 2m votes for Buhari in Kano State

GENERAL Sani Abacha's oldest surviving son Mohammed has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari in next Saturday's presidential elections and has promised to mobilise 2m people in Kano State to vote for him.

Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, himself a Kano State governorship candidate who is standing on the platform of the Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (Apda), said he decided to support the president based on his achievements since he came into power in 2015. He added that

some of President Buhari’s achievements are in the areas of security, economic stability, capital projects and agricultural development.

Alhaji Abacha said: “Apda in its search for a torchbearer for this great nation, has found Buhari as a man of integrity and transparency and he is incorruptible. We have noticed tremendous improvement in the area of security in Nigeria, especially in the northeast and the stability in our economy and agriculture is a thing of joy.

"The home-grown feeding programme has generated millions of job opportunities and improved the consumption of local farm produce. When you consider the nation’s economic situation between 2014 and 2015, with the present situation, you will see that the country has largely improved.

He added that on capital projects, the Buhari government has completed and is still working on several abandoned projects across the country, especially road projects. In 2011, Alhaji Abacha sought to run as the Kano State governorship candidate for President Buhari's then party the Congress for Progressive Change but his nomination was nullified by a court.
