Festus Keyamo defends Buhari's memory loss saying even Jesus and Prophet Mohammed suffered from it

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari's campaign spokesman Festus Keyamo has defended his principle's recent gaffs saying there is nothing wrong with a person suffering from memory loss as even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed were afflicted by it.

Over recent weeks, President Buhari has made a series of blunders on the campaign trail, attracting derision from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During a campaign rally in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Tuesday, President Buhari dropped his most recent clanger, saying he came into office in 2005, rather than 2015.

On several other campaign stops, President Buhari has presented the wrong candidates of his All Progressives Congress (APC) to the party faithful and has got some names mixed up. This has prompted the PDP to claim that he is unwell and not fit to occupy the office of the president, so should be retired by the electorate.

Responding to these calls though, Mr Keyamo, the media director of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, admitted that the president exhibited a loss of memory but said it was normal. He added that both Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed lost their memories at some point in their lives.

Mr Keyamo said: “President Buhari’s loss of memory is normal. Even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed lost their memories at some point.”

During a campaign rally in Warri, Delta State, President Buhari referred to the APC governorship candidate as presidential, senatorial and governortorial aspirant. In Cross River State, he then handed over the APC flag to Ndoma Egba, rather than Owan Enoh, the party's gubernatorial candidate.
