Bring Back Our Girls describes Buhari as ineffective commander-in-chief following latest Boko Haram attacks

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has been described as an ineffective commander-in-chief over his failure to end the Boko Haram insurgency following a series of fresh attacks by the terrorist sect over the weekend that saw it carry out raids in several Maiduguri suburbs.

In Saturday, Boko Haram released a video claiming it attacked the military base in Kumshe and Gulumba areas of Borno State. Then yesterday, another village known as Baleh Shuwari, which is less than 500m from Giwa Barracks in the Borno State capital, also came under attack by the insurgents.

As a result, hundreds of people living in the Jiddari Polo Ward in Maiduguri, have fled their homes to join relations in the Bolori ward in the city centre. Saturday’s incident was the third time the insurgents would be attacking the village, with the first attack claiming 19 lives and the second leaving 33 people dead.

As a result, Aisha Yesufu, the co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) advocacy group, has described President Buhari as an ineffective commander-in-chief. Reacting to the ugly development, Ms Yesufu said she wondered if the president was aware of the attack.

In a tweet, Ms Yesufu wrote: “Dear President Muhammadu Buhari, did you hear that citizens are fleeing in Maiduguri? What are you doing?

“Did we vote you to be an ineffective commander-in-chief? What happened to the valour that was reported of you? Citizens are fleeing in Maiduguri.”
