Goodluck's son-in-law Prince Goodwill Edward shot by unknown gunmen in Calabar

FORMER president Dr Goodluck Jonathan's son-in-law Prince Goodwill Edward is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds in hospital in the Cross River State capital Calabar after he was attacked by unknown assailants.

 

Prince Edward, who is the special adviser on youths affairs to Governor Ben Ayade, was reportedly shot in his State Housing Estate residence in Calabar. Although the severity of injuries sustained in the attack could not be ascertained, he is presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility in Calabar.

A native of Abi Local Government Area of the state, Prince Edward got married to Dr Jonathan’s daughter in a very lavish wedding in 2014. Cross River State police commissioner Hafiz Inuwa, said the matter had yet to be reported officially to the police but added that from records, it was not the first time that Prince Edward had been attacked.

Mr Inuwa said: “This was the third or fourth time that this thing is happening. Do you know that as at now I’m talking to you there is no official report about it?

 

"We are not going to wait until the matter is reported. We are the police we know our responsibility."

He added that even if they have a reason for not reporting the attack, the police have a responsibility to investigate it. Mr Inuwa said that by the grace of God, they will go after those responsible.
