Bianca's brother dismisses Ojukwu's children as ignorant for opposing his sister's senatorial ambition

DAME Bianca Ojukwu's brother Dr Joseph Onoh has described his sister's late husband's children who are opposed to her standing as a senator in their native Anambra State on the basis of the fact that she is a woman as ignorant.

Over the last week, Bianca declared that she will be seeking to stand for election running on the platform of the party her late husband founded, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (Apga). Bianca intends to stand for senator in the Anambra South Senatorial District, representing the constituency of her late husband Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu who hailed from the industrial town of Nnewi.

However, Ikemba Ojukwu's children have opposed the plan saying it would not be proper to allow a woman from Ngwo, in Enugu State, to represent Anambra South Senatorial District. Some members of the Ojukwu family including Dr Ike Ojukwu, Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jnr and Chief Debe Odumegwu- Ojukwu, argued that Bianca could, in the future, marry a man from another state.

They also cast doubts on Bianca's marriage to the late Ikemba, noting that she was not one of their own. Responding to such claims, Dr Onoh, Bianca's brother berated his in-laws saying that Ojukwu’s children were ignorant of the Nigerian laws.

Dr Onoh also dismissed the Ojukwu children’s claims that the marriage between their father and Bianca was not contracted in the proper procedure. He insisted that the opposition from Ojukwu’s children would not stop Bianca from winning the election.
