Mentally ill man kills traditional ruler in Ekiti by fatally stabbing him in the chest

TRADITIONAL ruler the Onise Of Odo Oro Ekiti Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin has died of stab wounds after being attacked by a mentally ill man believed to be a member of his family who resided within the palace premises.

 

In a bizarre development that shattered the ire of the quiet town, Odo Oro Ekiti has been thrown into a state of mourning after the death. Following the stabbing local residents of Odo Oro Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Are of Ekiti State took to the streets to express their anger and horror.

 

According to residents, the assailant who hails from the same royal family as the late monarch was earlier caught sitting on the throne shortly before a council meeting. He was asked to leave the chamber and did but returned to the place after the council meeting where he used a knife to stab the monarch on his chest.

 

Oba Ogunsakin, who became king in 1986, gave up the ghost while he was been rushed to the hospital. His assailant reportedly fled into the bush after killing the monarch but it is believed he was later apprehended and handed over to the police.
