Spanish second division side Elche opens talks with Deportivo about taking Uzoho on loan

SUPER Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho looks set to join Spanish second division side Elche on a season-long loan after the club entered into negotiations with his current team Deportivo La Coruna.

After being told in clear terms that he will be part of the first team at Deportivo La Coruna who are also campaigning in the second division, Uzoho has been on the lookout for a temporary move. Elche' sporting director Jorge Cordero, views Uzoho as a his top target to solve their goalkeeping crisis after last season's first choice goalkeeper Unai Simon returned to Athletic Bilbao.

Elche will, however, be open to the idea of having Simon in January with Uzoho expected to be away with Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations. A move that shows how confident they are in their bid to lure Uzoho.

However, the issue of which club will pick up Uzoho's salary during the expected loan deal is what has postponed the move for now. For now, talks are progressing steadily with both parties eager to see the deal go through.
