Besiktas enter the race to sign Omeruo from Chelsea as they seek replacement for Croatian Vida

SUPER Eagles centreback Kenneth Omeruo could be on his way to Turkish giants Besiktas after the club and Chelsea opened talks with a view to sorting out a transfer ahead of the forthcoming season.

Omeruo, 24, joined Chelsea in January 2012 as a teenager and was loaned out to Dutch Eredivisie side Ado Den Haag immediately and since then has played for several other clubs on loan. However, Omeruo has said he is tired of moving from one club to another every transfer window and wants to stay or leave Stamford Bridge permanently this summer as he is tired of the nomadic lifestyle.

Having just had a good World Cup where he played brilliantly in Nigeria's back three, Omeruo is now being looked at by several European clubs. Last season, a strong showing at his Turkey club Kasimpasa was followed by his impressive display in Russia, so he is hoping to make a permanent move this summer.

Omeruo is currently in Turkey to sort out his club future after new Chelsea manager Maurizo Sarri ruled him out of his plans for next season. A decision which sparked immediate interest in his services from several Turkish clubsides including Goztepe, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor.

He has previously played for all three clubs on loan but Besiktas are now the favourite to sign him as Omeruo is keen on a move if a fee can be agreed for his permanent transfer. However Besiktas have made it clear that Omeruo will only be an option if one of the duo of Pepe or Croatian defender ‎Domagoj Vida leave before the close of the current summer transfer window.

After a brilliant World Cup, Vida is one of the most sought after centrebacks in Europe, with English Premiership sides Liverpool and Arsenal both keen on securing his services. Arsenal's board is said to have already sanctioned a £25m bid for the player, while north London rivals Tottenham are said to also be interested.
