Ahmed Musa leaves Leicester's pre-season camp for Saudi Arabia to sign mouth watering deal

SUPER Eagles striker Ahmed Musa has completed plans to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr after he left Leicester City's training camp in Austria to fly to the Middle East and put pen to paper on a new contract.

Al Nassr Riyad are willing to offer Musa £40m for his services according to reports from the country and they are also willing to pay him a salary that will possibly make him the highest earning African player in Saudi Arabia. However, Leicester City have been reluctant to sell the player as they see Musa as an ideal replacement for Riyad Mahrez who recently departed for Manchester City.

Yesterday, however, Musa left Leicester's camp for Saudi Arabia after a fee in the region of £14.8m was accepted by the club. His transfer deal also includes several add-ons which will see the value of the contract rise to as high as £25m with time.

One of Musa's associates said:  "He will arrive Saudi Arabia tomorrow morning. A fee was agreed yesterday but he had to tidy some of his belongings before heading out to Saudi Arabia, the deal is too good to turn down.

"Al Nassr are getting him in his prime. He has regained his confidence at the World Cup with Nigeria and towards the end of last season he was one of the key men for CSKA Moscow during his loan spell."

Already, Musa has demanded for the number seven jersey at the club and the deal will reportedly make him the highest paid Nigerian football player by the time it becomes official. Following Musa's brilliant Russia 2018 outing that saw him score two goals against Iceland, he now holds the honour of being the first and only Nigerian player to have scored in two successive World Cups.

Meanwhile, Arsenal edged a keenly contested friendly game 6-5 on penalties against Chelsea after both teams were locked at 1-1 after regulation tie in one of the games of the International Champions Cup. Both teams were forced into penalty shoot out and the Nigerian duo of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi who were subbed on for Chelsea and Arsenal respectively made their marks in the game.

Moses who wore the captain armband following the substitution of Cesar Azpilicueta netted emphatically by sending Petr Cech the wrong way during the shoot out. However it was Iwobi who has the last laugh as the 22-year old dispatched his penalty with conviction to help the Gunners seal the win after Rueben Loftus-Cheek's effort was saved by Cech.
