Leicester fail to convince Ahmed Musa to stay as he appears set on mouth-watering Saudi deal

LEICESTER City have failed in their bid to persuade Ahmed Musa to have a change of mind over  his decision to quit the club following a mouth-watering bid from Saudi Arabia’s big spenders Al Nassr Riyad.

Al Nassr Riyad are willing to offer Musa £40m for his services according to reports from the country and they are also willing to pay him a salary that will possibly make him the highest earning African player in Saudi Arabia. However, Leicester City have been reluctant to sell the player as they see Musa as an ideal replacement for Riyad Mahrez who recently departed for Manchester City.

Mahrez's departure  made Leicester City have second thoughts about sanctioning Musa's move but it appears the player has made it clear to them that he wants to leave for the Saudi Arabian club. This is despite the fact that playing in Saudi Arabia might spell the end of Musa's international career.

One source close to Musa said: "Musa wants to leave for Al Nassr, there is no going back on it. The chance to make that kind of money hardly comes twice in life and as a matter of fact, he has told Leicester City he is interested in the move.

"He will resume training at Leicester City next week and talks will be held with the club. They already know of his intentions, so they won’t be much problem when it comes to taking a decision on the move.”

Before the World Cup, Leicester manager Claude Puel had planned to overhaul his squad, with Musa being one of the players expected to leave as part of a clear out. Leicester had been in talks with Turkish side Galatasaray over a loan deal with an option to buy Musa if they were happy with him after a season.

However, following Musa's brilliant World Cup outing that saw him score two goals against Iceland, Leicester City have had a rethink and now want the player to stay. With the Saudi offer now on the table, that appears to have all gone out of the window, however.
