Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp prepares £10m bid for Super Eagles winger Simon Moses

ENGLISH Premiership giants Liverpool are said to be eyeing a £10m move for Super Eagles winger Simon Moses with a view to  signing him from Belgian side Gent ahead of the start of the new season.

Moses, 22, missed out on Nigeria's World Cup squad due to the fact that he is carrying an injury, which doctors have said will take about three weeks to clear. He is subsequently not going to Russia but will be fit again before the start of the season, so Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be looking to add him to his squad.

Simon is a Nigeria regular, winning 21 caps to date and played in the majority of their World Cup qualifiers. He spent the past four seasons playing for Jupiler League club Gent, winning the league with them in 2015.

A versatile player, Simon can play on either flank or as a support striker, although the majority of his over the last season was  spent playing on the left. Over the course of the season, he netted six goals in 29 league games, a tally perhaps lowered by missing two months through injury around the turn of the year.

According to Liverpool watchers, while it is certainly evident that the Reds need to add more cover for Mane and Salah, in wide positions, the arrival of Simon could leave a question mark over the short-term future of Harry Wilson, one of the club's other wingers. Welshman Wilson excelled on loan at Hull City but it is feared he may not get much game time at Anfield if another wide man is brought in.

Simon is thought to be Klopp's type of winger as he is rapid, technically strong and especially impressive in one-vs-one situations. His relatively low price tag comes as a result of having just one year left on his contract.
