Michael Olise agrees five year deal with Bayern Munich as Nigeria still hopes to get him

NIGERIA-eligible playmaker Michael Olise has entered into a €60m (£50.7m) agreement with German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich that will see him contracted to the Allianz Arena side until 2029.

Olise, 22, is a mercurial playmaker, who has set the English Premier League alight over the last two seasons with scintillating displays for Crystal Palace. He is eligible to play for four different nations including England, his place of birth France, Algeria where his mother hails from and Nigeria through his father.

There has been a huge tug of war for Olise's services, with Nigeria desperate to get him but it appears that France currently have the edge as he has been invited to the French squad for the 2024 Olympics. With the rage for his signature at international level still raging, Olise has at least sorted out club matters, ending the constant jostling for his signature by several clubs.

Last week, Chelsea and Newcastle had approached Palace for the player's signature. Apparently, Chelsea offered Olise a competitive financial package but he wanted to move to Bayern and is now expected to sign a contract until 2029 with Vincent Kompany's side.

After joining Palace in 2021, Olise scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 appearances last season, despite a largely injury-hit campaign. Olise who ranked highly in key attacking metrics for Crystal Palace last season has a current deal with the Premier League side that expires in 2027, which Bayern Munich will now buy out.

In the UK, the 2024 summer transfer window in the Premier League and Scottish Premiership is officially open. It will remain so throughout the summer with the window closing on August 30 at 11pm UK time in England and at 11.30pm in Scotland.
