Leicester City now emerges as favourite to sign Super Eagles striker Iheanacho from Manchester City

LEICESTER City have emerged as the new favourites to sign Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City during the summer break amid signs that the Foxes have intensified their quest to get the youngster.

Manchester City have revealed that they will let Iheanacho go if a buyer matches their £25m asking price the club has placed on the player. Over the last season, Iheanacho became surplus to requirements after coach Pep Guardiola bought Gabriel Jesus to strengthen his attack.

Iheanacho, 20, has revealed that he would like to move to a club where he will get regular first team action, which sparked a flurry of activity. Fellow Premiership teams West Ham and Everton were reportedly keen on the youngster and Crystal Palace are said to have entered the race.

Today, however, the Leicester Mercury reported that odds by renowned bookmakers Bet Victor on Iheanacho joining the 2016 English Premier League Champions Leicester City, were cut to just 4/6 from16/1 over the weekend. Iheanacho scored 12 times for Manchester City in 46 appearances last season but despite this fell down the pecking order at the club.
