Dear Nigerians, I bring you good wishes from President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who as we all know is away from the country on medical vacation.
Today marks the second anniversary of our assumption of office. We must thank the Almighty God not only for preserving our lives to celebrate this second anniversary, but for giving us hope, strength and confidence as we faced the challenges of the past two years.
Our administration outlined three specific areas for our immediate intervention on assumption of office: these were Security, Corruption and the Economy.

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles played a 1-1 draw with the Corsica national team in Ajaccio last night after Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho equalised from the penalty spot in the 80th minute of the game.
In the match which took place at the Stade Francois Coty, Jean-Jacques Mandrichi put the Corsicans in front in the half before Iheanacho levelled matters late in the game from the spot. Nigeria's head coach Gernot Rohr, handed new recruits Tyronne Ebuehi, Henry Onyekuru and Ibrahim Alhassan starting places in a new-look team.

DIASPORA umbrella body the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (Canuk) has elected a new set of officials to govern its affairs for the next two years following the successful conclusion of a stormy annual general meeting (AGM) today.
At the volatile meeting which took place at the Nigerian High Commission in London, Emmanuel Namah, the welfare minister had to repeatedly intervene to calm nerves. A faction of the former executive committee led by its chairman Tunde Loye had wanted to annul the elections and extend their tenure in office.

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles will face the national team of Corsica today at the Stade Francois Coty in Ajaccio in a friendly game organised to get the squad prepared for its forthcoming World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
At the venue on the French island, the play the national team in a warm-up game ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on June 10. As Corsica is technically part of France and not a Fifa-registered member, the game will not count as a Grade A friendly

FOREIGN direct investment (FDI) into Nigeria fell by over 41% during the first quarter of 2017 to $9.8.27m compared with the $1.55bn that was recorded during the fourth quarter of 2016 according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Data just published by the NBS reveals that the FDI inflow recorded in the first quarter of 2017 is the lowest seen in 10 years. According to the report tagged the Capital Importation Report, the figure represents a decline of $640.61m from the last quarter of 2016, representing a 41.36% fall.

FORMER world heavyweight boxing champ[ions Evander Holyfield has pledged to donate health facilities worth $3m to Lagos State as his contribution to assisting Nigeria overcome her socio-economic challenges.
Earlier this week, Mr Holyfield landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, where he was received with aplomb. He later met with former state governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and yesterday he was received by incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the State House in Alausa.

BRITISH immigration authorities deported 35 Nigerians yesterday as part of the government's ongoing aggressive campaign to reduce the number of migrants in the country.
Over recent years, the UK has mounted a fierce drive to deport migrants without residency status and hundreds of Nigerians have been on the receiving end of this campaign. In the wake of the recent decision to leave the European Union, the UK has become more xenophobic and intolerant of migrants.

TWO Nigerians were sworn-in as mayors in the UK yesterday with Tunde Ojetola taking over the head of Thurrock Council in Essex and Soraya Adejare becoming the speaker of the London Borough of Hackney.
Councillor Ojetola, a Conservative councillor for Chafford Hundred has taken over the role from Cathy Kent, the Labour councillor for Grays Thurrock. Over the last year, Councillor Ojetola served as the deputy mayor of the council.
