Atiku dismisses call by Ohanaeze Ndigbo asking him to retire from politics after Supreme Court loss

FORMER vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has dismissed a suggestion from Ohanaeze Ndigbo that he should retire from public life following his recent loss of a Supreme Court case challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu.

I would have thought that as a former Lagos State governor, President Tinubu would have come up with an audacious port development plan that looks something like this

[1] Every state capital must be home to at least one waste-to-energy (WtE) plant that processes urban garbage into electricity

[2] Every industrial park must have a WtE facility where its waste is converted into power

[3] Every WtE facility will have a micro grid attached to it that can distribute the generated power within the state in which it is located

Now that President Tinubu has successfully fought off all legal challenges to his victory, he should do the audacious and administer some harsh medicine that will get the Nigerian economy going

[1] He should summon the 36 state governors to Abuja and tell them that as from October 1 2024 he will scrap the federal allocation regime. They thus have to start thinking about making their states self-reliant

[2] He should announce that as from January 1 2024, he will scrap government subsidies on all religious pilgrimages. If you want to go to Saudi Arabia or Israel, you are on your own
