To resolve the crisis in the power sector once and for all, President Tinubu should levy a one-off windfall tax on general overseers to generate $10bn for investment in infrastructural upgrades as part of a National Electricity Plan that looks like this

[1] As from October 1 2024, no building in Nigeria will be granted a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) unless it has solar panels installed on its roof

[2] As from 2026, all buildings in Nigeria must have solar panels installed on their roofs. Not having one will attract prosecution with the risk of the property being forfeited to the federal government

[3] By the end of 2027, all public buildings in Nigeria must be fitted with solar panels

Electricity distributors justify hike in power tariffs saying only the rich will pay more

ASSOCIATION of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (Aned) officials justified the recent increase in power tariffs across the country saying a lot of consumers receive at least 20 hours of supply daily so should be expected to pay more.

[1] Elected officials and the members of their immediate families are barred from going overseas for medical treatment

[2] Exceptions may be made in the cases of rare specialist care. In such cases, affected officials need to write to the National Assembly seeking permission for such trips

[3] Any public official who needs specialist overseas care more than once during a four year tenure must vacate their office
